De/constructie, Giftshop Gent
Working on a project initiated by Curating the Young.

Internship at Art Foundry Van Geert, Aalst
Immersed in the world of art and craft, fostering a deep appreciation for métier and the intricate process of traditional sculpture creation. Delved a little deeper in my profound fascination for materials and their applications.

Young Talent Belgian Art & Design Fair 2023
Secured recognition for a captivating table, "A table for three", with a narrative centered on recycled materials, design innovation, and the principles of a circular economy.

Woodworking and Winemaking - Expeditions Across France
Explored future possibilities while honing woodworking skills amidst the scenic landscapes of France, contemplating the intersection of craftsmanship and sustainable living practices. By this time, I felt like a woodworking expert, of course this is a big joke but I was very happy to transform old boxes and planks into some useful furniture. Here I sketched and afterwards immediately built the outcome, making two racks for the owners self made jam, and some storage space underneath their workbench, because the atelier was an unbelievable mess. I largely exceeded the number of hours I had to work.

Participant at Summercamp “The Last Resort”, Rubens Kasteel Zemst
Embarking on a two-week adventure with Constructlab, I engaged in the research, design, and construction of a living space on site, starting from zero. This immersive experience embodied a dedication to hands-on learning and collaborative creativity. Notably, prototypes like "Bent" and "Lounge" emerged as tangible outcomes of this enriching endeavor.

Teacher Beeldatelier, KunstAs, Asse & Ternat
Crafted engaging and enriching creative assignments, nurturing the artistic development of young minds while facilitating their expression through various mediums. Since I was so adept to experimenting with the visual and material arts, I couldn't leave my studio really. It was my day to day workout. I got inspired by some of my fellow atelier members to also teach at an academy, and so I did. By the end of this atelier period in Sint-Amandsberg, Ghent, at the intersection of July and August 2023, I started working more and more with materials besides my by then main practice which was painting, drawing and collage. I got inspired to design, sketch and execute little furniture with of course recuperated materials. Somehow the idea of doing my architecture stage came to the foreground again.

Exposition of work, Salvatore Ghent
Presenting a selection of paintings and drawings I produced during an intense solo atelier phase after a short initiation at Kask.

Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Drawing KASK & Conservatorium, Ghent, Belgium
By the end of my master, I wanted to further deepen my self in the visual arts. I got enormously inspired by Kunst en Architectuur, thought this might be my destiny. So I got enrolled in Kask, but it seemed that I had by then outgrown the boundaries of a school, so I quit after a first half year and kept experimenting on my own besides working at a café. The outcome of this visual and material experimentation would be exhibited in my first exposition I held at Salvatore Ghent.

Master of Science in Engineering and Architecture, Specialization in Architecture and Urbanism at Ghent University, Belgium - Master’s dissertation: "Jean-Paul Laenen: Art in Public Space," supervised by Prof. Dr. Bart Verschaffel (UGent)
By the time I began my master and even before, I was already having some doubts with the profession of architect. It seemed to me that society did not need more of buildings. I was somehow having the impression that the urgent topics such as climate transition, circular building, water shortage and so on were hidden our barely touched upon in our education. My view is that these actual topics should be the foundation of our education instead of a sidenote. During my master, I continued my broad range of interests, opting for courses and workshops that would enrichen me, instead of putting me in a pigeonhole. Learning about the sociological aspects of urbanism, besides finally getting introduced into topics of transition, thanks to Joachim Declerck. Two courses have had the biggest impact on me, being Kunst en Architectuur taught by Wouter Davidts and the course given by Declerck. These still up to today have influenced my thinking very much.

Research Assistant for the “Great Exhibition” with Architecture Workroom Brussels
During this internship I undertook a diverse array of tasks, from research and documentation to conceptual design, contributing to the realization of an ambitious project called 'De Grote Verbouwing'. Here I gained insight in their way of working and many aspects related to the transition towards a more durable society.

Freelance Photographer
Immersed in the realm of artistic photography, capturing moments of significance and expression while supporting academic pursuits through event photography. Most of my work here has been lost, besides some remnants of parties and events I have shot can be found here.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Architecture Ghent University, Belgium
In September 2016, I enthusiastically began my bachelor's degree in Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University. With a wide array of interests, spanning from philosophy to drawing and creating, and without a clear direction in mind, I chose this path: a comprehensive and enlightening education encompassing various facets of knowledge and societal relevance. As for what I would pursue afterward, that still remained to be seen.
