Exhibition painting

'Exhibition painting' is an experiment. A social experiment? What is the work in fact? What is the visitor allowed to do? And what is a fucking painting?  My work tries to connect stuff, material stuff. The easel in front of you, I made this one, because I like to build stuff. The parts of the easel have already a history before them, but I'll leave that out here.  I made that easel in first instance for myself to paint in the open, with natural daylight, on pretty okay large canvas. That's painting. I've painted one painting last year on that easel, near the end of the summer. After that I gave up painting. The painting is also somewhere around in this exhibition. Check it out. It's a painting.  After that, this easel stood rotting in autumn and winter in the garden. I like to see how things rot. It's what they call entropy. Everything is dust in the end. Pretty idea.  But look at that easel today. It stands here in front of you, in the exhibition space, mounted on top a canvas with the exact same size of (X X cm).  It is looking at you visitor, it is wondering if you visitor would be tempted to paint on it or not. Don't worry, you don't have to. You are completely free. Be inspired. Write something down. Don't worry, it's fine.  Look at that graffiti street, nobody cares, everyone just does. Art is not about good or bad, don't give shit. Pretty and good and bad are complex things to think about. I'd like to think that complex and simple are good. So, what are you up to?
